CPU ( control processing unit):-
“CPU” is the Main part of any computer. It reads
and executes program instruction, perform calculation and makes decisions. Most
of the device connected to the computer communication with CPU is also called
micro processor”.
It
consists of three main components namely-
i.
Control unit:
The control unit controls and co-ordinate the activities of
all other components of the computer. It instruct the arithmetic logic unit as
to which operation has to be performed arithmetic logic unit as to which
operation has to be performed. Its act like control nervous system for all the
components, naught it does not process any data.
ii.
Arithmetic logic unit (ALU) : -
The arithmetic logic unit is the part of CPU where logical
and arithmetic calculation are logical and arithmetic operations include
addition (+), subtraction (-), multiplication (*) , and division (/). Logical
operation includes comparison of numbers. (><+ not = ); letter and
special characters.
The
data is fed into the memory unit by with the help of input devices, this data
is then from furred to the arithmetic logical units and when needed for
processing by the control units.
The
arithmetic logical unit responds to the command coming from the control
sections. Once the data is processed the results are direct to the memory
sections for processing. it also holds the processed information’s.

Working of the central processing unit: -
The
control processing unit gets the instructions from the memory. It directs about
the instructions and directs the necessary data from the memory the arithmetic
logical unit. The arithmetic logical units then executes the instructions the
control unit then directs the result from the arithmetic logical unit to the
memory. Where it is stored. Finally the results are by means of output device.
This can be best illustrated
with the help of on example, of additions of two members “4” and “5” the
numbers are enter input through on input device and store in memory , then the
control units directs the input to the arithmetic logical units and signals it
to performthe additions ot two numbers takes place the ALU and the result. It
is moved to the memory . finally the results is displayed using on output
device.
